Timothy Hill
Clinical Psychologist
Currently welcoming new clients
Hi I'm Tim. I'm a Clinical Psychologist that works with adults (18+) experiencing a range of difficulties, including anxiety and depression, OCD, Trauma, stress/burnout, grief, interpersonal/ relationship issues, as well as LGBTQIA+ and self-esteem related difficulties.

About Me
Hi, I'm Tim.
the human behind the therapy
I was born and raised in the wonderfully diverse outer western suburbs of Melbourne, and that’s shaped how I show up in the therapy room - grounded, inclusive, and committed to creating a safe space for people from all walks of life. Sometimes some humour even sneaks into the room.
Before becoming a psychologist, I spent over a decade as an accountant, which gave me a firsthand understanding of corporate cultures and the stressors that come with them. Now, I consider it a true privilege to support people through life’s tougher moments.
My pathway to registration as a Clinical Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) included 8 years of Study, Research and Supervised Practice, including a Masters in Clinical Psychology and published research.
the clinical stuff
The clients I work with are often experiencing difficulties with:
-
Anxiety (including phobias and panic)
-
Obsessions / compulsions
-
Depression
-
Stress / Burnout
-
Self-esteem/ body image/ confidence
-
Trauma / PTSD
-
Grief
-
Interpersonal / relationship issues
-
LGBTQIA+ issues
I use a mix of evidence-based techniques including Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). There is often more than one way / type of therapy to address your difficulties. We will agree on a way forward and work together towards your therapy goals.
my approach to therapy
-
safe - my office is a welcoming, nonjudgmental, inclusive and affirming space for all.
-
pragmatic - therapy is different for every client, designed to match your goals, priorities, resources, and abilities.
-
flexible - while we will agree on your goals pretty early on, therapy is often not linear. Sometimes new things come up, so we pivot!
-
informal - while always professional, I aim to make therapy approachable. I use plain language and If you want to express yourself with colorful language - then go for it, I say.
research
Outside of clinical practice, my research interests include minority stress (e.g. stigma, bullying), body dissatisfaction and disordered eating, as well as gay men's mental health.
